In 1858, Robert Simeon Nelson
established a general store cabinet works and undertaking business at
Linton, near Ballarat, making his own coffins and caskets as well as horse
drawn hearses and coaches.

By
the 1930s, Nelson Bros had funeral homes operating around Melbourne.

|
|
Prepaid
funerals and motorised vehicles were introduced. Theo W. Nelson and James A. Nelson were founding
members of the Australian Funeral Directors Association.

|
Nelson
Bros still manufactured all coffins and caskets plus some motor coaches in
the 1970s. We were well established as leaders and innovators in the
funeral industry.

| Today,
five generations on, the Nelson family continues the tradition of quality
funeral service, providing sound advice, bereavement support and
professional care throughout Victoria. |
