60th anniversary of Williamstown Rotary Club
February 28, 2009
Nelson Bros congratulates the Rotary Club of Williamstown on its 60th anniversary. Managing Director Theo Nelson is a Past President and Paul Harris Fellow of the Club.
For the past 60 years, the Rotary Club has played an important role for the citizens of Williamstown and their surrounding communities. In particular, the club has performed great works in healthcare, raising funds for Ovarian Cancer Research, and more recently for Leukemia and other blood-cancers.
As a gift to the Rotary Club of Williamstown, Nelson Bros is delighted to help one of their major international projects, ShelterBox. We have purchased a ShelterBox for the club. It is displayed at the Williamstown Town Hall for the 60th Anniversary function on Saturday 28th February.
ShelterBox provides emergency aid for victims of natural and other disasters anywhere in the world. Since operations began in January 2001, they have helped over 800,000 people and worked in more than 52 countries – responding to earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, wars, volcanoes etc. This month, 50 ShelterBoxes were successful delivered to the fire-ravaged Whittlesea area. Forty boxes were distributed in Kinglake and 10 at the Whittlesea Recovery Centre.
Each ShelterBox normally holds a 10-person tent and a range of other equipment, such as:
• Thermal blankets, insulated ground sheets & insecticide treated mosquito nets
• A wood burning stove, or
• A multi-fuel stove that can burn anything from diesel to old paint!
• Cooking pans, utensils, bowls and mugs
• Collapsible water containers and water purification tablets
• Basic tool kit – hammer, axe, saw, pliers, hoe head, trenching shovel, rope etc
• A small, children’ s pack containing drawing books, crayons, pens etc.
We are available to help you now. Please call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for immediate attention from someone you trust. We’re there when you need us.
