Living Memorial Tree Program
January 21, 2010
Since 1976, funeral directors have taken great pride in offering bereaved families the Living Memorial® program with Batesville Casket Company.
When you select a Batesville casket, Nelson Bros Funeral Services arranges for a native tree to be planted as part of the Living Memorial® program in Australia. This has been accomplished in cooperation with Nelson Bros, the Australian Trust for Conservation Volunteers, and Batesville Casket Company.
The program, developed by Batesville Casket Company in agreement with various government agencies, has been responsible for reforesting many thousands of acres with more than eleven million trees. In Victoria, trees are currently planted within the central Phillip island habitat corridor.
More than just a fitting tribute, this programme provides for trees that shelter our wildlife, reduce water and wind erosion, and contribute to the purity of the air we breathe. It’ s a way to honour the deceased with a lasting memorial while helping the environment.
Reforestation projects are also underway internationally in cooperation with the United States Dept of Agriculture Forest Service, The Canadian Forestry Association and the Grand River Foundation in Canada, and The National Forest Company in the United Kingdom.
