We are specialists in arranging for both interstate and international repatriation.

Utilising our extensive worldwide network, we are able to assist families in the recovery of deceased persons to or from almost any country in the world. Working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, arrangements can be made immediately. This includes interstate or international funerals, obtaining consular certificates, or transportation to and from airports. 

Our mortuary is staffed by fully qualified embalmers who are experienced with Australian and overseas government regulations. Recognised around the world for its excellence in funeral service, Nelson Bros is expert in arranging interstate and international repatriation.

International Order of the Golden Rule

Founded in 1928, OGR’s mission is to make independent funeral homes exceptional through a wide range of programs, services and resources. Nelson Bros is a founding member of OGR’s Intercontinental Study Group, linking our Australian family with funeral directors in Asia, North America and Europe.

National Funeral Directors Association

NFDA is the world’s largest funeral service association, with over 20,000 members around the world. Nelson Bros has been recognised by the NFDA with the prestigious Pursuit of Excellence Award, the first funeral director outside North America to be awarded more than once.

National Association of Funeral Directors (U.K.)

Established in 1905, the NAFD represents the interests of the entire spectrum of the funeral directing businesses across Great Britain. Nelson Bros has been a member for decades and have strong personal links with funeral directors across the UK.

International Federation of Thanatologists Association

FIAT-IFTA originated near Paris, France in 1969 with the objective to promote “the preservation care through thanatological/embalming practices”. It has now transformed into a World Wide Federation of Funeral Services, a multi-lingual advocate to enhance the quality of service to bereaved families in all countries.

Australian Institute of Embalming

Established for over 20 years, the AIE promotes continuing education and professional standards of embalming in the funeral industry.

British Institute of Embalmers

The BIE was founded in 1927 by a group of 15 Funeral Directors who recognised the need for a separate organisation for the professional embalmer. The purpose of the British Institute of Embalmers is to advance and promote the art and science of embalming. Theo Nelson, owner/Chairman of Nelson Bros is honoured as a Fellow of the BIE, a recognition for his contribution to the promotion of embalming and funeral service over 60 years.
